"Beautiful building - needs brought up to date. The hotel had an “old” smell. Had a double which needed care and attention. The shower was dreadful, small cubicle, trickle of water which was lukewarm. Needs money spent to bring it up to date. Staff were nice. Just a shame it looks beautiful but not great. Plenty of parking though and beautiful views from the front. "

"Our room was very clean and spacious, housekeeping only came in when requested. Staff were friendly but the restaurant staff were not particularly friendly. Cooked breakfast was very good but the continental breakfast could be better for example the fruit salad was very green and would have been better if there had been some yogurt on the table. The bar was not staffed all the time so we had to find someone to get a drink on a couple of occasions. Lindeth Howe is an excellent hotel in a beautiful quiet location. We have no hesitation in recommending it to our friends."

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Absolute Gem — A Perfect Lakeside Escape! From the moment we arrived, Lakeside Hotel & Spa exceeded every expectation. The entire property was spotlessly clean, beautifully maintained, and the staff were not only friendly but genuinely warm and extremely helpful throughout our stay. Our room was simply perfect — a wonderful view of the lake greeted us every morning, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the silence at night was pure bliss. No traffic, no noise, just the tranquil sounds of nature. We slept better than we have in years! Breakfast was a real highlight — a lovely spread with plenty of choice, fresh and delicious. We also dined at the restaurant in the evening and were thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food. One of our favourite moments was relaxing in the charming courtyard with a cold draught beer, a gentle breeze in the air, while our daughter played happily in front of us watching the ducks. It's the kind of effortless, joyful experience that's hard to find. Activities like boating are available right on-site, so you truly never need to leave — and honestly, you won't want to. The hotel has everything you need to simply unwind and recharge. What sets Lakeside apart, above all, is its people. The staff take evident pride in their work, support each other beautifully as a team, and create an atmosphere that feels both grand and genuinely welcoming. We will absolutely be returning. Highly, highly recommended — a truly special place. 🌿"

"Would definitely recommend, and aim to stay again next year. Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings - far enough away from the busy Lake District hotspots to make it a peaceful stay, yet close enough to everywhere you might want to visit! Beautiful garden and pond, with friendly ducks. Clean throughout with spacious room and bathroom, and a comfortable bed. Great breakfasts with lots of choice. Only little niggle - it would be an added bonus to be able to have a cappuccino or latte choice at breakfast :)"

"The hotel is lovely overall, but it feels a little tired in places, with some short-term fixes rather than longer-term solutions. Our room was very warm, and a sign advised calling reception as the air conditioning was decommissioned. When I did, the response felt quite dismissive, focusing on the fact that air-con wasn’t included in the booking. I wasn’t expecting it as a given, just following the instructions for help — especially as we were travelling with a 3-month-old and the room was uncomfortable. It only really felt like help was offered once I mentioned the baby; to their credit, a fan was then found and brought up. It does feel unusual to have air-con units installed but not in use, particularly for a busy 4-star hotel where room rates aren’t low. Even at 22°C outside, the room was too warm, so this is likely to become more of an issue in summer. There were also a few small details that stood out — the TV was unplugged and needed moving to access the socket, and breakfast service was slow. Coffee beyond a basic cafetière at breakfast is chargeable; my latte was over £4, but didn’t taste barista-made and felt out of step with the pricing. I did enjoy my stay, but it was these small, slightly surprising touches that detracted from what could otherwise be a really strong experience."
