"Excellent location, staff is lovely. Hotel is very clean in all areas but could do better with room cleaning. We had to remind to clean ours couple of times even after putting the sign on the door. When we came back, it seemed like being done in a rush. Bed was made but pillows were not neatly kept. It was overall good but would have expected better from a 4 star property. Food is another area for improvement. Really slow service and not so great tasting food but priced really high. There are not many options around unless you drive up to Windermere giving you no choice but eat here. Swimming Pool was nice, I personally felt my eyes sting due to Chlorine so couldn’t use for more than once but the size of pool is decent. Gym is also very small but I didn’t use so can’t comment. I didn’t use the spa treatment either but looked good. Overall good experience and will recommend or come again only at cheaper price than what we had to pay for last minute booking this time. "

"The Bridge Inn at Holmrook. Our room was really comfortable, warm and spotlessly clean and well maintained. The whole of the Bridge Inn is dog friendly and welcoming to our pair of 4paws. The breakfast was brilliant. There's a really good selection to choose from and everything was cooked to perfection. We ate at the Bridge Inn every night because the food was excellent. The last time we ate food that good was when we ate at James Martin's restaurant. The menu had just the right amount of dishes to choose from and the helpings were spot on. We never met the chef but s/he gets 10/10. Last, but certainly not least the staff, everyone was welcoming and friendly. There is however one member of staff we would like to mention in particular. Unfortunately we didn't catch her name but she was wonderful. She was there first thing in the morning and last thing at night and always had a wonderful smile on her face and an eagerness to help wether on reception, behind the bar or serving meals. We would recommend a stay at the Bridge Inn to everyone. Well done to every member of staff there and thank you for making our stay so memorable. Thank you all."

"The Cumbria Grand is exactly what it sounds like — a big, old, atmospheric hotel with bags of heritage charm. And to its credit, that charm is real. The historic style works in its favour... right up until you notice the peeling paint and the layer of dust on the common area surfaces, at which point 'vintage' starts to feel more like 'overdue a renovation'. The rooms, to be fair, are clean and comfortable — just a little tired and in need of some maintenance love. Perfectly fine for a night or two. The bar is worth a visit — good quality food — although pricey. Parking was a squeeze when we arrived, though a function was on that day, so hopefully not always the case. Overall enjoyable enough, but some proper TLC would make a world of difference."

"The hotel is comfortable but needs a bit of an upgrade. Our room had a lovely four poster bed but the shower needed an upgrade. Evening meal was disappointing."

"Room was clean and refurbished but let down by the bathroom The toilet was badly located and toiletries insufficient ( particularly as there was nowhere to shower in spa) due to no changing rooms being available Parts of the hotel have been refurbished and are lovely although often just superficial but the other parts are very tired and and unloved. Spa - the areas which were available were very good and clean but again doors were lacking in cleanliness and if you look closer corners are missed and left unclean Breakfast - was ok choice was fair but coffee was extremely poor. All staff who we interacted with were very pleasant and friendly - particularly Michelle on reception and the lady in spa at 4.30 Overall wonderful location - mainly clean and friendly staff I appreciate there is a lot of refurbishment happening with the spa and infinity pool - but it does appear that other areas are in decline."
