"Room was clean and big enough for 3 people. They have washing and dryer combo machines on 2 floors so we were able to do our washing which dried properly. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast wasn't the best so we only had breakfast at the hotel one morning out of the 4 nights we stayed there. We loved our stay at the Richmond hotel Ekimae and would definitely book there again. The hotel is within walking distance to the Kyoto Train Station and Yodobashi Camera Centre where you can get everything you need. There are 2 7/11's and 2 Lawsons close by. "

"I booked this hotel because of positive reviews... Convenient location but that's about it. Firstly, housekeeping was very sloppy. I came back to a dusty room, items on the floor by the bedside table, no amenities refilled, or cleaned yukata (despite mine was taken away). I asked twice about luggage transfer and was told to bring my luggages down for assistance. I took them down the day before checkout. I was told I had to fill out a form, which is fine, although I wish I was made aware of that because I could have completed the form at night instead of in the morning when I was trying to sightsee. I asked if they could measure and weigh my luggages but they said no, which was bizarre considering Sawaga set in the confirmation that they may charge extra if the size and weight exceeds the limit. If you have credits from a third-party booking platform, you need to ask for them specifically because I was not offered the credits when I checked in. I appreciate the coffee bar (from 10:00 a.m. onwards) but I didn't think the breakfast buffet was worth 2,800 yen. I think my experience here fell short and the service was mediocre at best."

"Useful free bus shuttle to station. Staff very courteous. Handy for station but perhaps a little too far from downtown Kyoto. Didn’t use pool as there was a substantial charge per person per session. Would have expected guest use for free. "

"We loved everything about this beautiful hotel including: excellent location steps away from train station, Lawson market next door, big rooms for Japanese standard, impeccable cleanliness of our room and the hotel in general, separate shower/bathtub area from the toilet which is convenient for us since we were 3 in the room, super comfortable beds with down comforter, and oh my gosh the BREAKFAST was incredible and so varied - western and Asian choices galore including many traditional foods and also some to be adventurous with. I would stay here again in a heartbeat"
