A grove of olive trees on Kefalonia in the Ionian Sea. It's a beautiful island full of rural beaches, vineyards and olive groves.

Olive oil is this island's main export with over a million olive trees covering the island. The island used to have over 200 operating oil presses until the devastating earthquake of 1953 dropped the number to around 13.

In August 1953 the area had an astounding 113 recorded earthquakes. The largest measured 7.2 and caused the island to rise by 60 cm. It leveled whole villages and many were killed. A large portion of the survivors left Kefalonia for Athens, UK, America and Australia. The region around the Ionian Islands is the most earthquake prone region spanning from Western Europe to China.

"We had a great time at this villa, it was so clean, the bedding and towels smelt lovely! Lovely views and pretty cool seeing the planes take off! Lassi is only 5/10 mins in a taxi, plenty of bars and restaurants there. Argostoli not much further away. "Having just spent a week at the villa, I cannot give the property and owner enough praise. This was a trip for my 40th Birthday and it was perfect. Labros arrived with a cake on my birthday and delivered us home made pastry’s which were his mothers recipe. The villa is amazing, spacious, beautiful and with everything you could need. "Superbe maison parfaitement aménagée et au calme au sud de Céphalonie. Nous avons passé un agréable moment dans ce lieu, l’hôte est très sympathique et donne des conseils pour les différentes visites à faire. Petite plage à moins de 10min (avec douche!) ou l’on peut prendre un petit bain dès le matin pour lancer la journée. Je recommande les yeux fermés!"

No english however, made it a bit of a challenge, but we managed because they cared. Never saw the pool, but we were only there for 1 night in transition, so our timing issue really.
