Hotel Gibbs Downtown Riverwalk

10/10 Excellent

"Lovely old property, beautifully restored. Room was small, but very comfortable and big enough for my needs. Prime location across from the Alamo, a short walk from the River Walk and popular restaurants. Tip: Look for inexpensive street parking nearby to avoid the pricey surface lots and garages. I was able to park a couple of blocks away, free 6 p.m. - 8 a.m., and paid less than $3 for pretty much an entire Saturday."

"I have stayed here multiple times. I love to stay here because of the history. Being the oldest hotel west of the Mississippi, it is probably not the nicest hotel in downtown, but to me it is the coolest. The location is super nice once you get there. Getting to the drop off area valet parking is always difficult and I forget how to get to it every time I stay. Easy walking distance to the Alamo, the mall, the riverwalk and tons of restaurants and bars. You must go to the bar at the hotel just to say you were in the bar where Teddy Rosevelt recruited the rough riders. We have stayed in the original section and have experienced “ghost” or heard things like kids laughing and playing in the hall @ 4am. We will stay here again."

"This was a decent stay. The hotel is well kept, the breakfast is good, and the staff are very polite. A huge thank you to Olga in the lounge, who was so friendly and welcoming! My only issue was that my room had stained bed sheets when I arrived. I told the front desk, and they quickly brought up clean ones to fix the problem. Good service overall!"
