"Excellent staff. Managed by someone who has been working there for decades. Very good refurbished rooms and pub food; both are very good value. Located in a quiet village - the opportunity of lovely walks on the doorstep is a bonus."

"A nice hotel , with friendly staff . The room was a little disappointing, there were no sockets by the bed , the hot water for the bath wasn’t hot , but was boiling in the sink . We had a humming noise which kept us awake at night, but the staff were helpful , and we managed to sort it out by our 2nd night . Only because the girl at reception slipped up and said they knew of it , and it was to do with the card you insert for electricity to the room ( room 307 ) .Anyway they did refund our money for the breakfasts for both mornings as a gesture of goodwill, after my partner prompted them . The breakfasts were ok if a little overcooked . The spa was lovely and relaxing after our 13 mile walk along the canal , it’s £10 for the 1st hour and £5 for an additional hour . It’s a nice easy walk into town less than 10 mins . "

"Disappointed that I was not notified that they had a wedding at the hotel as this affect my stay, no food being served at night and the poor staff was extremely busy, I had to go somewhere else to get a drink. "

"Staff is very nice. Room is clean but not best quality and street facing room is super hot and noisy at night. "

"- Food at the hotel was fantastic. - Staff are very friendly and loved having a chat - Outside area big and good for dogs/kids - Big rooms and bathrooms - Hotel is dated and rooms could do with some investment. - People outside were very very loud but this is not the hotels fault and it was a bank holiday weekend. "It was just little things that stopped me giving it 4 stars. We had 4 rooms and all didn't have a second toilet roll and one had barely half of a roll. Ours was missing a large towel and our message to them wasn't actioned. The hotel itself is well positioned right next to a Co-Op where you can pre-book car parking."

"Nothing really around but , it’s above a pub. Small carpark and if you come back after 6 you will struggle to park. Shower was temperamental and we asked for more milk but didn’t get this until after we’re asleep. It was left outside the room. The free breakfast is a small continental breakfast. Neither the less, still nice. You can buy a full breakfast. If you’re looking to Climb Snowdon, which we did, it’s a good 45 minute drive away. But if you want to get your head down, it’s the place to stay."

"What an absolutely wonderful find. We usually travel Glasgow to Pembrokeshire in a oner, 8.5+ hrs but getting too old now so the lions quay was a fantastic find. Lovely, tranquil canal walks, fab spa facilities and a comfortable pub and restaurant with exceptionally patient and polite staff. Certainly stay again."

"Lovely stay overall- had evening meal overlooking river which was really nice- breakfast good. Rooms slightly tired but all ok for a short stay. Would recommend overall"
