"This lodge was brilliant. All small details had been thought of, even down to an ice machine for our gin & tonics! The house was very cozy & warm. The hot tub was fabulous & had gorgeous views Only a 5 minute drive into Penrith. Would definitely recommend."

"I've stayed in countless holiday apartments and cottages throughout the Lakes and would say that I enjoyed the view and the quiet from Chapel Cottage the most.On a clear crisp February morning, the village below with the backdrop of the other side of the valley is stunning.The cottage has everything you need. It is more traditional that flash so don't expect absolute luxury but it's super cosy downstairs but has a spacious kitchen and three double bedrooms, one with an ensuite.Askham is just over a mile away with two great pubs and the Michelin restaurant at Askham Hall. That said, the Queens Head now only does pizzas and Askham Hall is up for sale. Had a couple of solid 'pub grub' meals at the Punchbowl.Plenty of walks- Pooley Bridge is about 4 miles away, there are the eastern fells to explore, Haweswater/Bampton and a nice walk along the river Lowther to Askham and beyond.I usually like to try different properties but this is one I would return to in the spring or summer to sit out the front and have a glass of wine with that amazing view."

"Clean and spacious room, sitting by the fire in the bar is lovely. Breakfast was delicious, however the room was freezing, the amazing staff member serving breakfast did turn on the heating but it didn't help much. "

"We loved Glendowlin Lodge and for us it was a very different location to past visits to the lakes. Different but great. The lodge was very comfortable with lots of room for our party of four adults and a dog. We will come back again and would recommend it for others.Negatuves:The WiFi is not free unless your with EE.The driveway was a bit tight for a long car to turn round in front of the lodge. The heating was a bit excessive but turning off the storage heaters sorted that."

"Lovely hotel / inn with huge stylish bedrooms and fantastic bar with open fire. Food (fresh pizza) was amazing - some really interesting flavours. Breakfast fresh and very hearty. Highly recommended! Can’t remember the last time I went to a hotel this good."
