"One-night stop in extended trip. Very convenient location (just off the M6). Minor confusion - hotel uses US floor numbering (ground floor is 0, not "Ground"). Had room service which was a bit expensive for what it was, but food OK. Breakfast good with plenty selection. "

"This lodge was brilliant. All small details had been thought of, even down to an ice machine for our gin & tonics! The house was very cozy & warm. The hot tub was fabulous & had gorgeous views Only a 5 minute drive into Penrith. Would definitely recommend."

"I've stayed in countless holiday apartments and cottages throughout the Lakes and would say that I enjoyed the view and the quiet from Chapel Cottage the most.On a clear crisp February morning, the village below with the backdrop of the other side of the valley is stunning.The cottage has everything you need. It is more traditional that flash so don't expect absolute luxury but it's super cosy downstairs but has a spacious kitchen and three double bedrooms, one with an ensuite.Askham is just over a mile away with two great pubs and the Michelin restaurant at Askham Hall. That said, the Queens Head now only does pizzas and Askham Hall is up for sale. Had a couple of solid 'pub grub' meals at the Punchbowl.Plenty of walks- Pooley Bridge is about 4 miles away, there are the eastern fells to explore, Haweswater/Bampton and a nice walk along the river Lowther to Askham and beyond.I usually like to try different properties but this is one I would return to in the spring or summer to sit out the front and have a glass of wine with that amazing view."

"Clean and spacious room, sitting by the fire in the bar is lovely. Breakfast was delicious, however the room was freezing, the amazing staff member serving breakfast did turn on the heating but it didn't help much. "

"A beautifully done conversion with first class fixtures and fittings, you can absolutely feel the love and care that has been lavished on the property. The beds are wonderfully comfortable, the bathrooms are top notch, no complaints at all. The village and surrounding areas are picturesque and we can definitely recommend the pizzas from the Queens Head. Overall a lovely break despite the weather!
