I liked the hotel itself and the location, however this was all self service property. When you get there, you have to use a machine to check in, there’s literally no human individual to welcome you in, not one soul. They didn’t offer clean service, at all. We stayed two nights, and though the hotel room was very nice and clean the breakfast sucked!! They only offer coffee, pastries, fruit, cheese and yogurt. I felt like blah… wouldn’t book here again. Absolutely recommend this hotel if staying in a Engelberg. The hotel was a great place to spend two nights in Engelberg and is located in the center of town, about a 3 minute walk from the train station and a 12 minute walk to the cable car up to Mount Titlis (free shuttle from the train station if preferred). My room had a lovely balcony complete with flowers and a great view. The staff at the front desk and at breakfast were both very friendly. I hope to get the chance to stay at this hotel...

Hotel Alpenhof if a beautiful, peaceful hotel in Grendelwald. We had a suite on the top floor with a balcony and a sweeping view of the mountains and green hillsides. Now, I’m going to be honest. The rooms are not updated or fancy…more like a holiday inn….but the staff more than makes up for the simple/old rooms. Every single person was so nice, kind, and helpful. Georgia was especially helpful to us! We appreciated her advice! The outdoor deck was beautiful, and the restaurant was fantastic! Also, the location could not be better with amazing views.
