"Grand Solmar is a beautiful hotel. The architecture is traditional and elegant and blends seamlessly into the rocky cliffside. If you can't afford the Waldorf Astoria, this is a great choice. The ocean front infinity pools have amazing views of crashing turquoise surf. We always found lounge chairs available at the pools and didn't have to get up at 6 am to get one. "Terra Sol is in a great location, but the property is very old, worn out, and dated. It is fine place to stay if you aren't going to be at the hotel much, but the pool is too cold, the air conditioner didn't work right, and the place hasn't been remodeled or repairs in 30 years."
