"Good and reasonably priced Hotel with Great Food The check in was a quick and easy process. The room was a good size with a decent sized table to use my laptop on, good amount of power points, and with the decent speed free internet made it a very useful stop over. The shower and bathroom were good, but let down a bit by tatty worn painting work, along with the extractor fan not being hoovered out and quite dusty. The window opening and fascia above were tatty and quite dirty. Unfortunately the bed was squeaky when you moved, and wasn’t too comfortable. The food in the bar was very good, good portions, tasty and reasonably priced. The staff in the pub were friendly and efficient, and the service was quick, including bringing the food out to us. The room was quiet and had good views of woodland at the back, and was not affected by any light from the front of the Hotel car park. The parking right outside the rooms were great, peace of mind the car was visible and good lighting in the car park, making it a reassuring feeling parking the car. At the price point it was a reasonably priced stop over."

"Lovely place. This is a rustic place in the middle of nowhere and is fantastic! Worth all the travel. Staff were amazing. Food was superb. I had the giant Yorkshire pudding with beef bourginon. My room was lovely and the bed comfortable. A very welcoming place even for a single traveller like me. I’m definitely going back at some point! Brilliant"

"We were very impressed with the Hotel. Our room was spotless and dinner and breakfast both excellent. Our daughter was in a separate room and equally impressed. Certainly a first class hostelry"

"It’s worth just staying there for the warmth and inviting personality of Anna who makes sure everything you need is taken care of. Lovely big rooms and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was also very good."

Appleby Castle

"It was an amazing experience to be in a real castle we chose a cheaper room so we didn’t have an en-suite but a beautiful bathroom in the corridor instead. The owners were so helpful and friendly and we had a very good quality evening meal with beautiful romantic piano music played by the manager and a history talk too. The owner was a beautiful lady who chatted to us in the bar area. We’d like to go again. Breakfast was good."

Premier Inn Durham City Centre - Walkergate

"Room was clean and well appointed for a one nights stay. We paid for breakfast at the hotel the next morning and it was convenient. Only issue at breakfast was coffee machine was being cleaned and took about 15-20 minutes and we were finished eating but had our coffee after."
