Close to town with other fun nearby locations to visit. - The town is nice and feels like Mayberry. - There are nice state parks that run along the river all the way to the Virginia border with hikes to the nearby mountains and rivers which my kids (8 and 12) loved doing. - The river also has public access pretty close to town which was clearly a local watering hole which I preferred to an ocean beach. My kids wanted to go to river multiple times on the trip. The house itself is nice and feels homey. The veranda going around the house was a huge hit with the family and I loved that the weather was in the 70’s at the cabin vs the 90’s at home in Cary.The place is clean though it could use a little TLC. We had a Chrysler Pacifica which is really low to the ground which would ground out if we didn’t take the roads at a good speed but I suspect a car with normal suspension should be fine. The driveway going to the house was a bit steep which may be a concern during the winter. We cook a lot when doing vacation homes. The kitchen is fully equipped but like most vacation properties, you will likely want to bring your own knives and favorite spices etc if you plan to eat at home a lot. We did donate a second nice-sized cutting board to the property - your welcomed! These though are all minor points compared to how nice and relaxing the place is.Great trip! My kids are already campaigning to go back again next year. Big thumbs up!"
