"It was our first time to Lake City and we absolutely loved our stay. Enough room to spread out, small but well stocked kitchen to cook meals, covered porch with comfy chairs to sit in. We enjoyed the hot tub after long days of riding. Jim was a great host was always there to answer questions that we had. I definitely recommend staying here."

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Gowdy Manor in Lake City. It was super clean, and the host was great — easy to talk to, quick to communicate, and gave us helpful tips on where to go and good places to eat. It felt comfortable and welcoming the whole time."

"The nicest VRBO we have visited. The location is amazing and the views from inside and outside the property are breathtaking. Your blood pressure will drop, your mind will clear, and all of your worries will disappear once you cross the bridge onto the property. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped, the best of any stay so far. Communication with the host was excellent both before and during the stay. The nightly price may seem high but I can assure anyone considering renting Thoreau’s Cabin that it is more than worth it. This will be on our calendar for an annual visit."
