Open living/dining/kitchen with 2BD/2B + sleeper sofa. Wood burning fireplace (43” TV has been installed above fireplace, with a DVD player & a wide variety of DVDs for your viewing pleasure). Large screened porch to enjoy nature. The perfect serene getaway.

** Recently an outdoor fire pit was added (with a few "camp chairs" in the laundry room which can be used around the fire). Picture yourselves sitting by a crackling fire, in a wooded setting, drink a glass of wine, or toasting marshmallows for your 'smores.

This home has been outfitted with many amenities that will make your stay comfortable, easy and affordable. And it’s so much more cost-effective than staying in a hotel (with much more privacy!).

So close to everything!

8m Estatoah Falls, Sky Valley, GA
10 min Franklin, NC;
1 hr Highlands, NC
1 hr to Cataloochee Ski Resort (Maggie Valley)
1.25hr Ashville, NC
3hr Chattanooga, TN

And close to sooooo many wonderful waterfalls!

What’s close by? Everything! Wineries, waterfalls, antique shops, farm to table produce, and so much more! Small hometown feel in the mountains. You can be as active or in active if you want to be.

Nestled on the side of a mountain facing the Smokies you won’t be disappointed! You can be as active, or as in active, as you want to be. The perfect getaway location!

Every Sat. evening (May-Oct) there’s Pickin on the Square in downtown Franklin – we have folding chairs for your convenience to enjoy the event. Wide variety of music!

We hope you enjoy our home and stay here in the Mountains as much as we do and that “y’all come back now … ya hear?!”

The real mountain vibe

Coming from the flat S FL, we needed some outdoors adventures and mountain fun so much and we got exactly what we were looking for. The cabin resonates perfectly with everything around and offered everything we needed. Clean, cozy, pet friendly, with a nice location, just right for our family.

Great location, comfy, and cozy

Let me start off by saying if you want brand new, sparkling accommodations, you should just keep scrolling. HOWEVER, if you want comfortable, cozy, and quaint, this is your place. It's a little older. But don't let that fool you. It gives off "spending the night at grandma's" vibes that just warm your soul. The huge fireplace puts out some serious heat - and we needed it as it was 23° when we arrived. There was some confusion with the firewood as the owners had a new cleaning service, but Pam was very available with a quick fix. The screened porch was perfect for morning coffee and critter-watching (lots of birds and squirrels). And while the steep driveway is intimidating, my 2 wheel drive Jeep Cherokee made it up without any issues. The Owl's Nest is out in the middle of nowhere, while still being so close to so much. A short drive gets you to many different places - shopping, distilleries, restaurants, hikes, and waterfalls. Oh the beautiful waterfalls! I had no idea we would see so many gorgeous views and sites! Oh, and they aren't kidding - get some apples and walk down the road to the animals - donkeys, cats, dogs, and a HUGE pig to name a few, will come running for some rubs and snacks. To say we had a great vacation is an understatement. We were there for Thanksgiving week 2022 and while life has been so busy that I forgot to review until now, the memories we made will last forever.

Just what we hoped

Promised family a wood burning fireplace in the mountains away from it all but not too far away… We got that and big white- tailed deer running across below, charming apple-loving burros, a friendly sow and horse and woodpeckers and peace and quiet and lots of relaxing beautiful mountains and waterfalls. Yes, we would come back again - very thoughtful, responsive owners. Lots to discover and enjoy nearby for any adventure appetite.

Perfect location for hiking!

This house was located near our main AT section hike (albert mtn to deep gap) and convenient to pickens nose and 3 waterfalls we visited. Quiet location, just what we needed to accommodate our outdoorsy weekend.

Awake to birdsong

Owl's Nest is a lovely little cabin set in a gorgeously quiet hillside. Surrounded by trees, it's peaceful and secluded, and the the stillness is soul-soothing. The cabin was very clean, with great amenities, and Pam was extremely responsive and helpful. Day trips to various area attractions were easy - and beautiful - drives.

Nov. 2020

We enjoyed our stay at The Owl's Nest. The home was located in a wooded area off the main road, but yet, not so secluded or distant from other homes. The driveway is paved and has a steep turn, which may be difficult driving up in icy or snowy conditions depending on your vehicle type, but we didn't have any issues during our stay. The Owl's Nest was a comfortable retreat and included all the amenities during our stay. We really enjoyed the wood burning fireplace on chilly evenings and after spending our days exploring the area. The owners were very communicative and helpful. We hope to return some day.

Cozy and Relaxing!!

The Owl’s Nest was decorated for Fall, which added to the ambiance of this cute cabin. It is secluded in the forest, but not far off the main road. We felt right at home, it was comfortable and inviting! We hiked in the Nantahala or Chattahoochee National Forests everyday, and came back to relax in front of the fireplace. We definitely recommend this mountain home!!

Owl House Rules! 🦉🦉🦉

We just spent a wonderful weekend at the Owl House and we weren’t ready to leave. The location is excellent. Close to everything you need but you feel like you miles away from anyone. Ultimate privacy. The cabin was charming and had everything we needed and more. Be sure to stop at the Smoky Mountain Information Center. The staff is so helpful and have information about anything you’d possibly want o do in the area. Not to mention adorable keepsakes to take home. We arrived at Owl House well after dark and had no problem finding it with GPS — took us right to the front door. We will definitely be back.

Nice Otto Cabin

Pam was a wonderful host and the cabin was exactly what our son & his family needed while finalizing the purchase of their new home. The cabin is well located and close to Dillard, Franklin & Clayton. If you are looking for a mountain escape the Owls Nest is a nice option. You are in the mountains and it feels like totally removed from the 'real world', but in reality you are close to everything.
