"We booked Bear Mountain Lodge for one night, but wish we could’ve stayed for more! The owner was very welcoming and friendly. He sent detailed information for our arrival and it was quick and easy. The signs posted to the lodge were helpful and clear. The lodge and our room were very clean. Our room had a separate bathroom for our room (Deer Room) and it was fine by us. The Lodge was super quiet as well despite the rooms all being booked. I do wish there were blinds to block out the light in the Deer Room aside from just curtains because the light came in around 4 am. I may have missed the blinds somehow though.
We didn’t have time to use all of the great amenities, but wish we could’ve! You could use kayaks, paddle boards and more down at the lake and even rent ATVs for all of the cool trails. There’s even a hot tub.
I highly recommend booking here for a relaxing vacation. We’d love to go back and experience all of the cool activities they offer.
Thank you for a great stay!"
Cozy 1 bedroom cabin a few steps from Gardner Lake
10/10 Excellent
"Marvelous home on Maine's coast with spectacular views. Fascinated by the tides, grandkids loved searching the beach as the ocean receded each day. As beautiful and intriguing as the photos are the property still exceeded our expectations. The grandeur of the location and the home itself show the love and care that went into building and maintaining this very special home."
"I cannot fault the owners for weather-related maintenance delays. The owners were more than accommodating. However, the property is dated. Also, the walkway in front of the units is painted a very nice, shiny red, and I almost slipped walking between our unit and car when it was wet after the rains (it was fine in the morning after it had dried). Its location is fantastic. Just put yourself back in the days of vacationing with mom and dad in the 1960s and you'll be fine!"
"The home is beautiful, the scenery gorgeous, and every little amenity you can think of was already there! This was by far the best stay we've had and hope to return again."
Classic Maine Oceanfront Cottage, Gorgeous Views, Centrally Located, Pets, A/C
10/10 Excellent
"We had a wonderful stay at this cottage and would happily return. The property was spotless when we arrived and was equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable visit. The location was absolutely beautiful—peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by nature. It was exactly the kind of getaway we were looking for. As birders and nature lovers, we especially appreciated that the backyard connected directly to a birding spot. Being able to step outside and immediately enjoy the sights and sounds of nature was a real treat. We spent many enjoyable hours watching birds and wildlife right from the property, making the experience even more memorable.Catherine, the host, was excellent and very communicative throughout the entire process. She responded quickly to questions, provided clear instructions, and made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay and ensured everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out.Overall, this cottage exceeded our expectations. Between the cleanliness, the fully equipped kitchen, the breathtaking views, the direct access to excellent birding opportunities, and the attentive host, it provided the perfect retreat. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful escape."
