"Great hotel with excellent location. But be aware that it is a boutique hotel. Only two small elevators for the whole hotel. You can hear everything in your room, your neighbors and everything going on outside. Walls are paper thin. But overall, good. "

"Pretty basic hotel with lots of “snags” during our stay. We booked 3 but the room was set up for 2. Struggled to get extra pillows and asked 4 times for towels. The safety deposit box was another story and took the best part of 2 hours to resolve. The room was close to a service area and was quite noisy at night. One of the beds was also in need of attention as the springs made a racket. Staff were nice, the location was ok and in fairness the stay turned out ok before we connected to our cruise."

"The Casa of Essence was a pleasant stay in old town San Juan. It is convenient to plaza Colon and therefore easy drop-off and pick-up. The hotel is hard to find as there isn't a sign, but the communication was excellent. The doors are opened by codes and the room was pleasantly cool. I highly recommend Casa of Essence."
