"Cosy room. TV wasn’t the best sound. Gave up and watched my phone. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay again"

"A well maintained and interesting Victorian Hotel in a beautiful seaside location. Filled with vibrant art works by one of the owners, and large, comfortable common rooms offering splendid views of the sea. The staff were welcoming and helpful but not intrusive. We eat out in Tintagel but the snacks in the bar area were appetising and the cakes absolutely delicious. The owners were out and about interacting with visitors. The rooms were well appointed and clean with comfortable facilities and the nightly cost very affordable. All in all, a destination that we'll undoubtedly visit again when the weather improves."

"Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Alverton. The room by the courtyard was very nice, and the bed super comfortable. Nice and quiet as well. The one thing that was a bit disappointing was the breakfast - we had decided to stick with the continental option, the buffet was limited, the toast we had ordered never arrived, and my mum’s gluten free toast got there only just before we left, more than half an hour in. I appreciate things can get busy, but it was unfortunate that there was no communication about it."

"Amazing. Loved this trip. Lots for the kids to do. Clean rooms beautiful sea view. Lovely staff Milk and cookies for the kids in the evening. Cinema room with movies Breakfast and dinner were amazing Only negative bathroom was abit small"

"Room was clean, although the bathroom needs some refurbishment. The staff were very helpful. Thought the evening menu was poor. Not happy that dogs were allowed in dining room, as well as guests wheeling suitcases through the dining room on arrival and departure."

"Warm and comfortable room. Well equipped. Friendly staff, Good food,lovely pool sauna etc. Only negative was the draughty window. Noisy wind whistling through but the curtains contained it! And n fairness it was very stormy. Great breakfast, lots of choice and quality ingredients."

"Clean rooms, lived the Earl Grey teas. Breakfast was very good, my wife often ordered from the menu. Staff were attentive, reception always smiled. Grounds were clean, the pool looked inviting, would have definitely used in warmer days. Although the room was very clean the shower was all open plan with the bedroom, which was strange. The sink could have been deeper made shaving difficult. All very modern but not practical. But none of that spoiled our long weekend. Would go again especially as its do close to the Eden Project."
Great Western Hotel

"When I arrived in Newquay I was confronted with Road Works directly outside the Hotel and was forced to make a 3 mile detour just to get to the Hotels front door, I know this is not the Hotels fault but I did find it frustrating. The receptionist was helpful and made me feel welcome, which, in my opinion, is very important. My room was on the second floor and overlooked the afore mentioned Road Works but this did not have any real affect on my stay as there seemed to be nobody working on site. The room facilities were good, with light refreshments available and these were topped up daily. The room was cleaned daily and the bed was remade every day. The bar/restaurant was extremely pleasant, service was efficient and the staff were polite, helpful and respectful. All in all a very pleasant stay and very good value for money and I would be quite happy in recommending this hotel."
