"I recently stayed at the Hilton New York Downtown and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience that I feel compelled to share. One of the most concerning issues during our stay was the lack of hot water. After a long day in cold New York weather, my elderly parents and I returned to our room expecting basic comfort, only to find that there was no hot water available. This forced us to shower in cold water, which was extremely uncomfortable and unacceptable—especially given that my mother has asthma. Situations like this can directly impact health and well-being, and I was quite dissatisfied that such a fundamental amenity was not available when needed. Additionally, we experienced a very alarming and frightening situation late at night. Around 2:00 AM, a group of 4–5 intoxicated men came to our door and attempted to open it. They remained outside our room for approximately 30–40 minutes, creating a highly distressing and unsafe environment for us. As guests, we expect a basic level of security and peace of mind, but this incident made us feel vulnerable and deeply unsettled. Overall, this stay did not meet expectations in terms of both comfort and safety. I hope the hotel takes these concerns seriously and improves their service and security measures to ensure that future guests do not have to go through a similar experience."

"It's sort of what you'd expect for the price...worth it? Thats your choice. The area is great. The rooms aren't sealed and have open ceilings which means you can hear all noises and if unlucky, your neighbours smelley feet and cheap deodorant. There were two showers on the floor i was on, both broke! I had to go downstairs, past reception, down more stairs and two security doors to get to the others showers, which were much better! Not an ideal situation. Overall, it was fine for my purposes and i wouldn't say I'd never return but I'd look at other options first. "

"The staff was extremely kind and helpful, the beds were comfortable, but the room was very dirty, especially the bathroom walls and the carpet. I let the desk person know, and she seemed concerned, writing it down to pass along. I felt confident that they would address it. "

"The Ridge benefits from a great location. The room was clean, but amenities in the room and lobby are not as nice as the pictures on Expedia. The staff was spotty, usually friendly, but not always helpful. The AC wasn’t working and it was HOT in our room. After notifying the front desk twice, a helpful employee explained why the AC wasn’t functioning and supplied us with a small fan - this improved the situation. The rooftop lounge area is great and the price seemed fair."
