The Inn at the Tides

"The room was excellent. Comfy beds, incredible view of the bay and sunset. TV was almost non existent. We gave up and watched everything on the laptop. Hot tub was one jet but very clean. Pool looked amazing, didn't have time for a swim or sauna, next time. Reason for 4 not 5 stars was the food and lack of traditional coastal food!!! Anywhere!!! In room coffee 1 out of 5. If only there was an onsite shop where we could have bought a real coffee with real cream. We stayed Tues -Thurs, many restaurants were closed. We had dinner at the Inn at the Tides across the highway and had to drive the short distance, as our room was at the top of the hill (hence the great view). We requested a window table and were seated almost immediately. We ordered a fish filet entree and seafood tower. No claw meat, tiny piece of dungeness, a small piece of lobster, two small scallops, oysters and pink mini shrimp 1" roll smoked salmon, fish was meh and rice tasted instant. Nothing tasted freshly caught. Bread was sliced and no flavor. "Continental brkfst" was one granola, toast OR store bought croissant! What? Waitress was so rude when we didn't order and pay for full breakfast, no coffee refills. We could not find true delicious sourdough or fresh crab/shrimp takeaway cocktails, like the old days at the outdoor fish market, anywhere in-town. Jenner, Valley Ford and Sebastopol are quite the drive, but worth it for the food. Spuds chowder walk up and Pelican market deli are worth trying"

Hotel La Rose

"We loved our anniversary stay at Hotel La Rose. It was like stepping back in time but in such a good way. The bed was so comfortable too. The elevator was down but walking up three flights was easy and allowed us to see the whole place. We did have a fire alarm in the morning go off (false alarm) but they apologized and said it had never happened before so it was just a little fluke. Anyway— we loved it."

"It’s a clean hotel, not much character, all muted grays and whites, rather dull but very clean. Our only problem was our room on first floor was next to the EXIT door hallway. Every single time someone went in or out a big heavy metal door slammed loud in our room. All day, all night, even midnight, 2 am, 3 am, 4 am it really NEEDS a soft close or something it was very disturbing!"
