"This is a lovely cottage in a great location with the best hosts ever, I can't give it a good enough review. The house itself is in a good spot, it feels very private. On one side is a 20x20 ft (or so) area with several nice seating areas, sheltered by a huge China Rose bush that gave off a wonderful smell.The inside is larger than it looked in the pictures, the main room is light and airy, and has plenty of seating for meals, also as a living room. The kitchen is thin but perfectly well setup and complete. The bedroom is very nice, and large, and has its own patio with a couple adirondack chairs and a well-cared for garden, which also feels very private.All the house details were above average, the lighting was really cool, the heating/cooling is very high tech, the doors, the locks, the window treatments, all very well done. The shower is excellent!Just to find a place in Yorktown is great, there's enough good food there you can make a good few days just eating down at the riverside, get a good walk in as well.The hosts were the best, they actually went out to a store and bought something for us, that I had (unwittingly!) mentioned, just so our stay would be more comfortable. It was above and beyond expected. Really good people"

"Walls in room had patched holes, and large areas had been painted with different, unmatched colors. Many areas were not clean. Iron had red material stuck to it and could not be used."

"I was meet with a couple of baby roaches and slugs at the door. Room needed to be swept better. There was not enough towels and wash cloths for the amount of guests. Even after having to buy my own broom to sweep up some of the dead slugs and few more popped up during my stay. Upon arriving to the front desk to check in, the worker was complaining about the laziness of the other shift workers without greeting first. "

"There were multiple stains in the room’s floor, mold in the corner of the bathtub, no soap or tissues in the bathroom (I was able to ask for soap and they gave me 2 bars) and it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. While it didn’t smell like someone had directly smoked in the room, I could smell it in the room. I asked if the room beside mine (I was in 111) was a smoking room and was told yes. Must be coming in through the vents. Had to ask for WiFi and was given a code, and checkout was simply giving back the key. Nothing formal. Pretty unpleasant and disappointing stay, but I just needed a place to sleep for the night. Would definitely advise steering clear of The Crown Inn. "
