Good place to stay

We love historic places to stay at. The George fit that perfectly. The room was full of charm and character. Modern it is not, but we knew this going in and we expected what they delivered. The restaurant serves delicious food. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We would absolutely stay there again given the chance. Thank you, The George Inn, we had a wonderful w experience.

The location was excellent and was within easy walking distance to the historic center of Bath.

The hotel is located outside the city of Bath. It's about a 30 minute walk to the city centre, so we took a local bus. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel which is very convenient. Gems assisted us at check-in and printed out the bus schedule for us!! She was very pleasant as well as all the other staff. We were having dinner at the hotel, and she walked us to the dining room. After a long overnight flight from the US, we were delighted to be greeted by the friendly staff upon our arrival. Having a parking spot was key, and staff members kindly parked our car on arrival in the small garage and removed it when we departed as we were still getting used to the narrow lanes and left-side of the road driving. The staff are lovely, and the property and gardens are beautiful (although they’re not quite as new or updated as the photos make it seem). It’s more of a charming quiet calm hotel in the countryside. My only issue was that the carpet had tons of large stains on it, which was rather gross and I’d expect a hotel to have a vacuum cleaner that can take stains out of the carpet. Beautiful hotel, with fantastic gardens, exceptional rooms & service. We were lucky enough to have a large room on the third floor with gorgeous views of the gardens & hills in the distance.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Gainsborough. You honestly couldn't ask for a better location. It's just a block from the square and an easy 10 min walk from Bath Spa train station, so getting around the city was effortless.
