"Our 2-night stay was pleasant. I was especially pleased the room was serviced after our first night, which is not always the case due to hiring difficulties. But understand this is a very old facility and is not fully compliant with the needs of seniors or the handicapped. The first hurdle is the front stairs. There are 4 steps up to the front door. Next problem comes the front door. It is am old wood front door more like you have on your home than the automatic doors available in more modern facilities. You need to turn the doorknob to enter which poses a problem if both of your hands are full, Once you enter you find yourself in a small entry way and a few more stairs. In the entryway are two hotel-style carts which seem to be a nice idea until you try to use one.
After loading the cart you are faced with your next hurdle. To enter the lobby you need to turn the knob on the second door to open it. It has a closer on it which provides some resistance to opening and keeping it open. It poses a real challenge especially if you are alone, Also, the threshold has not been updated to accommodate the cart getting the heavy cart over it while pushing on the door to keep it from interfering with the cart is difficult even for the able-bodied.
Once inside, the old lobby is pleasant looking. The guest rooms are modern. The staff is helpful, and, at the end of the first day, I was delighted to see that our room had been serviced; something less common elsewhere."
