"Great room with 4 beds and 2 baths- which is what I booked except on arrival they tried to give us 2 separate rooms (not sure why). Biggest issue is was street noise from traffic and trolley/street car 24/7. It also felt fairly unsafe surrounding property and on our early departure we could not locate a staff member to unlock the door to let us out. It ended up she was sleeping and we had to knock on numerous doors to find her. This caused a bit of a delay to depart for airport but we made it. Also seems this would be a safety issue. I don't mind them sleeping but perhaps install a bell or something. "

"The hotel is a “one of a kind”. Located in the historic part of Quito in a former large colonial home. The ornamental paintings on all the walls create an indoor garden atmosphere. Our room was quite large with a comfortable king size bed. The washroom is well appointed. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. Eggs are made to order. The artisanal bread was a nice touch. There is no elevator, so ask for a room on a lower floor if you have mobility challenges or think the high altitude might make a little tricky to climb too many stairs. The location is close enough to walk to many of the main attractions in the old town. We only had breakfast at the hotel so we can’t comment on their dinner. There’s an excellent restaurant just next door and in the other direction, about a minute away are several family run restaurants that are worth trying We can’t emphasize enough how attentive, kind and helpful the staff are at this hotel. Staying at La Casona was a terrific part of our Quito experience. "

"We paid for a family room, instead we got a single double bed. The room was crowded. The linens were dirty. The windows didn’t shut and it was cold overnight and there was the noise of a pipe banging constantly all night long. We paid for 2 nights but it was so awful we left after one. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. This may be the first negative review I’ve ever left. I don’t want anyone else to not be warned. "
