I'd booked a while ago and was a little dubious reading some of the recent reviews.
The hotel has a great location and is as you'd expect a Victorian seaside hotel to be, a little dated but that's part of the charm. The hotel boasts commanding views over the bay and close to the castle.
We had 2 rooms booked, both were spacious, clean and seemed to have new furniture.
The staff were lovely.

"A superb hotel, the views are phenomenal, staff are friendly and approachable. Lots of choice for food, buffet breakfast and an extensive menu for other meals. The room was clean and well stocked. "

The building is quirky but i was so relaxed with my kids cos there was nothing to break/damage. I could smoke on the balcony and no one cared. I will stay here again 100%"
