"Lovely old hotel close to the seafront. The reception staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The lift is out of order so it was a bit of a chore getting everything up to the room, but the room itself was clean, warm and spacious. There was a separate bath and shower which was great. You choose your breakfast in advance and say roughly when you'll be there. The lady looking after us was super and all our food was perfect. Such a delicious cooked breakfast along with toast and cereal. The restaurant was spotless too. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again. One downside was the nightclub across the road, it was very noisy way into the night, but that's not the hotels fault. Also I must say some of the other guests had no respect for anyone else in the hotel and made lots of noise late at night, we always try to be quiet and considerate but it's a shame not everyone thinks that way, but again not the hotels fault. "

"We travelled to Whitley Bay from York to attend a family funeral and booked this hotel for an overnight stay. We were looking for a small family run hotel with personal service and that is what we got. A lovely spacious newly refurbished bedroom with on suite, and all that we would wish for although not needed, even a microwave! The management could not have been more accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Cooked English breakfast was superb. Highly recommended."

"Marley's retreat is a lovely snug apartment in a little village just outside Whitley Bay. The apartment is well catered and very dog friendly which was brilliant for us as a family of 4 plus 2 dogs. The village has 2 really lovely pubs, with good food options and the roaring open fire in the Old Fat Ox was very appreciated in the freezing temperatures we had when visiting. Max who owns the apartment and runs the shop just a few doors down was lovely and accomodating and happy to help with any information needed. Plus the broonie and tiffin were incredible!!!"
