"Our party of 8 and 1 baby very much enjoyed our stay here. Everything was very clean, lots of amenities (most wanted to just spend time here rather than exploring The Lakes District!) It’s located in a tranquil area with a view of the hills and sheep. Finding the place was a bit tricky in the dark, and we had a little hiccup with the upstairs heating, but the hosts are next door, so things were resolved quickly. On arrival, the host came by with a number of instructions. There are 3 ensuite bedrooms upstairs, and another bedroom off the kitchen area (also with a bathroom). All other beds are sofa beds). Note for families: there is a washing machine, but no dryer, just a drying rack. Very well equipped kitchen. Groceries and other supplies can be found in Penrith. It was more than enough space for our family."

"Beautiful location if you want to relax and unwind. No shop or pub in village but other villages and towns close enough. Lovely cottage and garden with everything you need. Sheep get to wander and eat on the village green, great to see theor freedom. Visited nearby Appleby, lovely town and dog friendly. Loved it."

"I've stayed in countless holiday apartments and cottages throughout the Lakes and would say that I enjoyed the view and the quiet from Chapel Cottage the most.On a clear crisp February morning, the village below with the backdrop of the other side of the valley is stunning.The cottage has everything you need. It is more traditional that flash so don't expect absolute luxury but it's super cosy downstairs but has a spacious kitchen and three double bedrooms, one with an ensuite.Askham is just over a mile away with two great pubs and the Michelin restaurant at Askham Hall. That said, the Queens Head now only does pizzas and Askham Hall is up for sale. Had a couple of solid 'pub grub' meals at the Punchbowl.Plenty of walks- Pooley Bridge is about 4 miles away, there are the eastern fells to explore, Haweswater/Bampton and a nice walk along the river Lowther to Askham and beyond.I usually like to try different properties but this is one I would return to in the spring or summer to sit out the front and have a glass of wine with that amazing view."

It’s in a Quiet location with an excellent pub serving good food nearly next door and a village store and cafe over the road. The hot tub is an added bonus after walking miles in the beautiful scenery."
