"The secluded countryside location was idyllic, contemporary room with extremely comfortable bed. A bench outside the lodge would have, in my opinion, added to the experience. The staff here were fabulous and a special thanks goes to the guy behind the bar who helped me back to my room, a real gentleman. I would recommend a stay here for anyone looking for old fashioned and quintessential english welcome and experience"

"We was in room 6 it was a nice big room and was clean the only negative was the room was above the pub entrance so we heard all the people coming & going and in the celling of the room was a bright green emergency exit light that lit up the room all night & the mattress wasn’t very comfortable. The water pressure in the shower wasn’t that great but other than that for a one night pre holiday night stop it was fine "

"We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely old inn. The ensuite bathroom was amazing for such an old place. Very modern, very clean with a good-sized and fully powered shower and a nice area set aside with a make-up mirror. The landlord was very friendly. A good location for walking in the countryside or visiting the many nearby homes and gardens. We'll stay there again."

"If you hadn’t spoken to anyone prior to arriving, there’s no signage to tell you where the apartment is nor is there anything on the confirmation email. Luckily I had spoken to someone beforehand who turned out to be a very nice member of staff. Although four people were booked to stay here there were only 2 cups, no instant coffee so had to go to Costa machine in the Co-op in the morning at an extra expense. "Although ideally located I was surprised to discover on arrival at circa 1800h on a Sunday evening that no food was available and worse still they have stopped serving breakfast altogether. I found out about the lack of breakfast on reading a notice pinned to the inside of the door to the room. I was told that The Bear have been unable to amend their website!!! Despite being invited to check in online I did not receive any notification about the lack of catering. There were no alternative food...

"This is a property from the 1800's so this should give you an idea of what to expect. Lots of grand original features and very traditional. My room was spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. The hosts were an absolute joy to be around and provided great company and conversation. Breakfast was delicious and set me up nicely for the day. I would recommend without hesitation and I look forward to staying again. "
