Explore ancient Viking history at Værnes Church, where thousand-year-old stone walls tell stories of Norway's past. Outdoor enthusiasts can fish the Stjørdalselva River or hike nearby trails before sampling local cuisine at the charming town square cafés.
Loved the location, a short walk from train station. The award winning breakfast was as wonderful as advertised. Tip: buy breakfast onsite from hotel, only 200kr (~$20US). Also only on days when you’re really in mood for large meal, as everything is tempting.
Trondheim tip: newish restaurant called Funky. Inventive cooking, super cool vibe, with a DJ spinning vinyl.

Everything here was pleasant and clean and friendly and just nice. I only gave a 4-star in one category because the curved-back chair was not too comfortable for an old guy like me. I liked the location and staff and breakfast and it was all quite enjoyable. I even beat myself at a game of darts! 😆
