This hostel was excellent for a nights sleep. Its a short walk to & from the train station, and is within walking distance to food and even a nice local town pub that serves food as well right across the street. The bus station is also within walking distance and surrounded by food and shopping. This is a hostel, not a hotel, you shouldnt expect much besides a roof over your head and a bed to sleep in for rest. Awesome and fun experience. They deserve the rating they have - i would definitely stay at Palmers Lodge again! Big rooms with good beds and heating and really nice common areas. The only problem is that the kitchen is pretty small for such a big hostel but the rest is more than fine. Plus, the area is stunning.

The bar is good

I’m a solo female traveler and I enjoyed the cleanliness and safety this hostel provided. The staff were also kind and professional.
