"We had a lovely stay in the Beacon View accommodation. It has a back deck with a superb view so we were disappointed it rained for the whole time lol. Perfect spot for exploring the South Downs National Park, or hopping to Lewes, or like us a day trip to Drusillas Zoo...."

"Lindsey and Richard run a wonderful B&B with a cooked to order breakfast with farm fresh eggs. The rooms are spotless and well taken care of during the stay by Lindsey. The area is quiet at night for a good sleep, the yard and gardens lovely, and an excellent pub close by.
We really hope to be back one day."

"A very lovely B&B with great location, beautiful room, wonderful hosting from Karen and team and best breakfast I've had in years. Over three days, the breakfast was perfect. The bed too is probably the most comfortable bed i can remember ever
The Host gives great, heartfelt advice which is super helpful."

"We went with a sea view room with a balcony this time. Always have a great stay at this hotel. Breakfast is an all you can eat buffet style with loads of cooked food. Great way to start your day. "
"Amazing service

Very child friendly and accomodating
Lovely restaurants- we went to the garden room and the bar for dinner on seperate evenings"
"I stayed at the Great Danes Hotel in Maidstone and was extremely disappointed. On arrival, the reception desk was completely unstaffed, and after a long wait the check‑in was rushed with no information about the leisure facilities and only vague directions to my room.
The first room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, with stained, worn curtains. I requested a room change and was initially told it wasn’t possible, though another room was eventually offered. The leisure facilities were dated, poorly supervised, and the shower area had visible black mould.
Dinner was acceptable, but service was slow and staff seemed undertrained. Basic questions about bar options became unnecessarily long exchanges because staff didn’t know what was stocked.
Returning to the room, I noticed a damp smell and clear signs of neglect: cracked plaster, dirty curtains, sticky furniture, peeling wallpaper, and visible mould and damp near the door. The carpet also looked unhoovered. The next morning, I discovered the shower had no showerhead at all—just an open pipe, making it unusable."
"Good breakfast, great value for money. My single room was a good size, but the bed wasn't great. The bathroom, was also fine, although the shower had very poor pressure. For the money, it is absolutely fine - just don't have unrealistic expectations!"
"I have stayed 4 times with work. This time I couldn't relax as I could hear scurrying around in the ceiling. Thinking this was a mouse/rat infestation, they assured me it wasn't but it was actually squirrels.
They did move my room after reporting it. However if squirrels are known about, I was shocked I was put in a room with that issue.
I may consider somewhere else to stay next time. "
"We have stayed at this hotel 6 times previously, great for the Lingfield races. This occasion we got a first floor race course view close to the finishing post. Turned up 2 hours prior to normal check in time and was allowed to check in. Always find the staff here pleasant and helpful. After the race had drinks in the bar, good atmosphere. Room was great, lovely king size bed. Breakfast was great as usual but very busy at 0845. No shortage of either fresh fruit, cereals or hot full breakfast. Staff kept on top of this. We will use this hotel again."
"It was value for money £35 per night but it is very tired and needs a lot of tiding up. I had to ask for toilet rolls when I got to my room also the mug was still dirty so had to ask for a clean one. Saying that I slept well and the staff were helpful when asked."
