"This is a fantastic stay if you are looking to quietly enjoy listening to the birds and seeing a massive sky of stars. The house was impeccably clean!!!! It was well stocked and thoughtfully detailed. The neighbors were very friendly and our furry children thought they were in heaven running around the massive fenced in yard. There are tons of parks, bike riding trails and excellent restaurants in the vicinity. We had a wonderful time!"

"I don't know how to start this review so I'm just going to stick to facts that are backed up by photos, videos & messages in regards to this property. Prior to renting, we were familiar with the area so have nothing bad to say about it or the amenities at Island Village - we knew what we were getting into & didn't have expectations of a stay at The Ritz. That being said, the unit itself was beyond filthy- I'll just highlight a few things. Both bathrooms were heavily soiled- toilets were heavily grimed with dust, hair & debris along with dried fecal matter in the bowls.The shower was newer & relatively clean. The kitchen had crumbs & debris on the countertops, stove, in the fridge & sink. The fridge had a foul smell. The sink had a thick layer of grime & mold along with dirty dishes in it. The dishwasher heavily smelled of mold & had dirty dishes in it. We didn't use the dishes due to petrified food particles. Numerous personal items were out throughout the condo. The washing machine had mold on inside rim & door, it smelled heavily of mold/mildew. There were not any sheets on the beds & mattress pads had large yellow/brown stains which owner claimed were from a heating pad- we knew better. This was a last minute reservation as our initial VRBO had been fumigated & was non-habitable. We ended up cleaning the condo ourselves & purchased items so we could stay- only because there were no other rentals available as it was right before Easter. There's more...but do NOT recommend!"

"Island Cabana was a wonderful property! It had every amenity possible, even snacks! The beach decor was perfect and the furniture and beds were very comfortable. Loved the long driveway and outside seating. Spent time in both pools, walked to the beach with our dog and played mini golf on one grounds. We were very happy that we picked this property! Thank !"

"This property is very close to the ocean. It is an older manufactured home that is clean for the most part but is lacking in structural upkeep. The floor in front of the kitchen sink is soft (rotting) and the owner has placed several mats over the area. Although the bathroom floor isn’t as serious, there are two spots in similar condition. The toilet is so close to a non-functional wall that a large person cannot comfortably sit on it. There is plenty of room in the rest of the bathroom and the lighting there is very good. Very clean except for the mildew on the bottom of the shower curtain. Bed linens are marginal at best, pilled and worn, and should be replaced. A large TV graces the living area with super service and a variety of channels, which we found helpful the day we had severe thunderstorms and 2 tornado warnings. The stove door is cracked. We did not cook there. Let’s talk about the air conditioning. The thermostat has a physical plastic box around it and apparently a code, which the owner states became necessary because a renter abused it, broke it, and cost him a great deal of money to have it repaired. We stay in VRBO homes all the time and have never encountered anything like this. If you want the temperature changed you have to call the owner and have him come over to adjust it. He is responsive and must be nearby but really?? We like it cooler for sleeping but not so much during the day when it could have been a bit warmer. As it was, we spent very little time there so we just dealt with it. Nettles Island consists of manufactured homes of all descriptions as well as a few block homes (some of which are very nice) but placed with virtually no space in between. We were there in the off-season when there aren’t many people there, but can only imagine the congestion when more people are vacationing. The streets are narrow and parking is tight, to say the least. We have a mini van which fit with literally an inch to spare between the house and the front bumper. Tenants are forewarned not to have even an inch of your vehicle in the street. The canal behind the home is tiny but provides a buffer between what otherwise would be the rear of the house almost touching another. Although we are appreciative of the efforts the owner of this house has made to provide an affordable beach home as well as his attentiveness, this listing falls short of standards we have come to expect within the VRBO network."
