"We were happy to hear that our room was upgraded , that was cool , a bigger bed ! Which was very comfortable! They informed us that the fireplace is not in working order. We were disappointed when the refrigerator was not very cold nor did it have a little freezer . We weren't able to make it colder , we had brought food to have for lunch , the fridge was cool but not cold to ensure that the food would not spoil . I tried the front desk a couple of times but no one answered . I wanted to see if it could be fixed or something ?"

"Property in decline. From what I overheard its for sale. Elevators do not work. The signs would indicate its been that way for some time. Paint peeling. Holes in railings and larger holes in wood stair steps that are mandatory as elevators not working. Staff is mixed bag. Check in guy was terrific. I asked for an upgrade and he called me within the hour to advise he had done just that with a view! When we checked in after dark the front desk girl sent us to the far end of the property up 4 flights of stairs with luggage trailing because she misread the room number. UGH! Rooms are upscale, clean, bathrooms nice, bedding ok. The biggest issue in the summer even in Monterrey is NO ac. I asked the helpful front desk man the next day about that. He claimed the owner doesn't say it has AC so its not considered deceptive, supposedly. IT IS deceptive as I cant ever recall a 3.4-4 star rated hotel without AC. That should be disclosed up front and as its not it should totally disqualify everything else about this property. I asked how they handle unhappy and overly WARM customers who complain about NO AC. He replied they wave the 20 something parking fee which is pathetic for the property is on the mid-higher end. Everything is not as it seems. Customer be aware."

"One thing was bad.. big bright light outside in front of window. Shades were closed but some light come through and did disrupt my sleep."

"Awesome budget spot for a stay with our dogs. Location was great - we enjoyed the quick trip across the highway for a glorious beach sunset- and the room was basic but very clean and comfortable. Parking was easy and staff was great."

"We went with our 2 and 4 year old and it was amazing for our time with them. We went on the beach, did s’mores, swam and jacuzzied. The property itself was perfect for our young family."

"Our room was clean and the bed comfortable. This is an older property so you have to realize some parts are historic and don’t have amenities you might find in most newer properties. Our room didn’t have a/c. They did have fans and we could open the window. It was cooler outside so our room never got too hot. The historic portion might require some stairs off the elevator where a luggage cart can’t go. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was coffee, tea & hot cocoa available in the morning in the parlor off the lobby. The lobby had couches, a little book lending library. There was a table & chairs if you wanted to play games. We only wished it had a TV to watch the Workd Cup. The price was right for our budget. It was conveniently near the ward, the plaza, restaurants, bars and a great walking path."

"We had a great stay at the Stargazer Hotel! The room was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our family. We stayed in the family room with three beds, which was amazing and made our stay so much more convenient. The only downside was the limited parking. Several of the covered parking spaces had furniture stored in them, which appeared to be due to room renovations, leaving fewer spots available for guests. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful time in Monterey. Thank you, Stargazer Hotel, for a great experience!"
