"Overall, we really enjoyed our time at the Dartmouth Sandman. We were staying at this property in the process of moving (not sightseeing) so it fit our needs perfectly. The front staff were exceptional and went beyond to help fulfill our needs and special requests. We didn't have a chance to use the amenities but the pool and gym looked very nice. The pub was also really nice for an evening drink and appetizers. We only had a minor issue with the housekeeping staff who didn't replenish our towels etc but the front staff responded quickly to this issue."

"Great location: close to the airport and the 102 which leads quickly to downtown Halifax. I was really impressed with the staff who always greeted us cheerfully and were keen to help whenever we had a question. Our room was comfy and clean and very spacious. On our first night, we ate at the restaurant and were very happy with the food and service. Would happily stay here again."

"The staff was good & always offered help with questions. Unfortunately, the room did not have coffee because no shipment came. There was always coffee in the lobby & at breakfast. Breakfast was basic: eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, potato cake, toast, cereal, yoghurt."

"The front desk staff were super helpful. The complimentary breakfast was fabulous-- more than typical continental breakfast and the fitness centre was well equipped. On top of everything, the location was perfect, across the street from the citadel and mid way between the harbour boardwalk and the public gardens."
The Barrington Hotel

"This is an older hotel, and does have some very, superficial, signs of wear. Many moons ago, it was part of the Delta chain so has been very well maintained. Room was large, and don't get me started on how comfortable the bed is, I wanted to take it home! Not a major deal...and I would certainly stay here again! My only 'real' negative is there's no on-site parking. It's not far away, in the Scotia Square mall, and having my ticket validated wasn't a huge deal. I think it was more having forgotten about driving in Halifax (more than a few years since I drove in that city) especially on a night on a hockey game. The hotel is extremely centrally located so driving wasn't a deal-breaker, and Halifax transit gets to most parts of the city in good time."
