"Wedmore Place: The Stay That Came With a Plot Twist As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned I prefer memorable places. Unfortunately, Wedmore Place took that as a challenge. I returned my second time expecting European charm—vineyards, antiques, wine, and cozy fireplaces. Instead, I checked into what felt like an abandoned movie set from the Shining. No staff, just a key left on the counter and a phone ringing behind the desk like a cry for help. So I called their 7-10 pm number to get “voicemail full” and sent an SMS with my number. Our “Venetian” suite had potential—if you ignored the chaotic décor, pornographic impressionist paintings, ceiling cherubs, and the unsettling feeling that no one had supervised the design. Then reality set in: no guest soap, no guest towels, and no bedding for our third guest. Morning brought the grand finale—a mouse turd in my bed and using the bathrobe as a towel. Breakfast room? Locked. Naturally. We found a key labeled “cafe” on the counter of the front desk, So we let ourselves in, and dined on stale muffins before reheating our Cracker Barrel leftovers. Garbage was overflowing behind the counter. Just as we settled in, pest control arrived and someone who worked there was surprised to find us dining on leftovers and apologized that someone should have been in at 7 am. Six days later, no charge, no apology—just memories. And honestly? I’ll never forget it. Sadly, I won’t be back for round three."

"The breakfast was ok. Eggs, bacon,sausage sometimes biscuits. No potatoes or grits. Cereals, muffins and bread for toast. Juice, coffee and yogurt. The coffee was very weak to the point that I could taste the cream over the coffee even after a staff member changed it. Otherwise it was ok."

"This hotel is a great value. The front desk was polite, pleasant, and efficient. The room was clean. The bed was nice, and the room was pleasantly large for an equivalent offering. The bathroom was a bit "long-in-the-tooth," as horse-traders used to say. The shower head was fixed and the pressure a bit low, and the tile was cracked in the bathroom. The towels were too thin and small, and they only supplied two, but I didn't ask for more. Parking was easy and right in front of the room, since this is designed as the 1950's concept of a motor-hotel, or motel. There did appear to be at least a few long-term residents, and it is necessary to close the curtains, because the motel is all on one floor with the window facing the public walkway. The pricing was excellent, and there were no hidden fees, like fake resort fees. The only addition was taxes."

"Dirty and dated but the staff was amazing. Kids loved the heated pool and putt-putt golf. Nice quiet and convenient location and pet friendly."

"Conference room & hotel room ok. Furniture in room was worn, bed was comfortable. Staff at first was unfriendly- didn’t offer parking ticket- had to wait until they were ready to register later on day. "

"My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Cedars. Host was super friendly and breakfast was always delicious. Room was clean. The only thing that I think needs attention was our bathroom. The shower could use a good spray for mildew and the drain cover is not attached to anything. But other than that I would recommend this place."
