"We enjoyed our week at Shellborough. The weather was wonderful, sunny every day. The property was as we remembered it from the last time we visited. One or two improvements had been made. Overall a comfortable, spacious property. Only two of us but plenty of room for two. The views from the balcony are what makes this a place to revisit. They did not disappoint, wave watching and lovely sunsets. One thing to be aware of are the stairs. Obviously, a penthouse has quite a few. These are not a problem for an able bodied person but need to be considered if you are elderly or disabled."

"A lovely apartment, with a sae view and short walks to the beach and Woolacombe. All with it's own parking space, which is a definite bonus on busy Woolacombe days. If you're a surfer or have beach equipment, it really caters for that, as you have your own private, lockable shed in which to keep your kit (we managed to squeeze in a 9ft long board), and there an outside shower to rinse yourself and wetsuits, plus a washing line to dry your stuff. All of which make for a great holiday, and it's why we come back here. The apartment itself is really good, with a large lounge in which to relax and look out to sea. Missing it already..."

"Smelt strongly of damp on entering communal corridor. Flat seemed ok but lots of road noise due to front window not sealing when closed. Was better when i went outside and pushed it closer. Swivel chair bases rusted badly. Sweeping brush was digusting and covered in muck and fluff before we used it. Bathroom radiator rusty, squeegies were covered in black mold. Extractor fan not working. Wardrobe had little space as full of boxes ironing board and clutter. "

"The apartment is spacious and light. It felt holidayish when you first entered. However it’s a very ‘tired’ apartment and really needs some love. The mattress in the main room is very uncomfortable and desperately needs replacing. It’s up a very steep slope which my 6 yr old struggled with, after being in the sea. We ended up paying to park. This may not be a problem if you don’t have tired 6yr olds! Over all it is a nice apartment but felt a little grotty as it really needs a refurb, decorating. I’m not sure I’d go back, maybe a bit pricey for what it is, if I’m honest, but others may think differently."

"Fabulous property! Very comfortable and well appointed. The terrace is beautiful and the post beach shower a superb facility. Beach is 2 minute walk, as are the shops and restaurants. Communication with hosts perfect, they were even able to accommodate us for an extra night at late notice! Very welcoming into what is their own home. Football table and board games great fun when it was wet. Teenagers able to go surfing while we went out for lunch with lots of options. Highly recommend."

"This is a nice property that's had love and care poured into restoring it. The property is however over-marketed (and over-priced) in our opinion. Expedia market as a 'cottage' and the pin shows a central Woolacombe location. Its actually in a holiday/residential park above Woolacombe. The park its in has a run down feel to it and the first impression was of deep disappointment. Once you've moved in then its a lovely property on the inside. The garden is communal - there is no division between 'your bit (nice picnic bench as shown in pictures) and the adjoining properties. Its quiet at night and road noise (road is 20m away) is not intrusive. The location is not convenient to Woolacombe. We cycled and walked down into town. The road is steep and is fine for adults however its the main road to Woolacombe and would not be safe for young children. Its quite a climb back out too. Walking was fine apart from the first 300m. This is again on the road - there are no pavements or verges and did not feel particularly safe - after which there is a pleasant walk past stables and fields into town. There is a bus - however the stop is after the 300m pavement less stretch. You can of course drive down. We were a couple - so did not 'value' bunk beds or the thoughtful games etc provided. If you want a base for exploring the Combes then this works and there are lots a great guest reviews attesting to a good stay."
