Old Thorns Golf Resort and Spa Hampshire by Accor

"We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment and overall had a really enjoyable and relaxing stay. The views across the golf course were beautiful and it really is somewhere you can unwind and slow down. Looking out over the open landscape was incredibly peaceful. My main disappointment was the cleaning. The communal area leading to the apartments didn't appear to have been cleaned when we arrived. I deliberately waited a couple of days to see if it would be attended to, but by the third day the same debris was still there, so I raised it with reception. The reception manager told me the communal areas were cleaned every day, but I pointed out that this clearly hadn't happened in our area. I felt it would have been better simply to acknowledge that it had been missed. To their credit, they reacted quickly and the area was cleaned shortly afterwards, for which I thanked them. I also noticed when using the cooker extractor that the buttons were greasy and sticky, suggesting they had not been thoroughly cleaned for some time. We had a small issue with the curtain rail too, but maintenance responded promptly and politely. Overall, we had a lovely, relaxing stay, but I do think management needs to pay closer attention to cleaning and carry out more thorough checks. First impressions count, and these relatively small details can make a significant difference to a guest's overall experience."

"We stayed 4 nights in "the annex" of The Nags Head while attending the Goodwood Revival in Sept. Although the price was crazy expensive at £450 per night for a basic hotel room and breakfast, at the time we booked we couldn't find anything cheaper that was as close to the train and bus station. (It's an easy walk through the historic center, past inviting shops and restaurants.) The "annex" rooms are around the corner from the main in and pub, and the separation was no problem. The area felt safe and it was quite quiet since it was not directly on St. Pancras Street. (Even St. Pancras is not a particularly noisy street.) Our room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast got us off to a good start. (Have the smoked haddock if you can!) But what made our stay most memorable were the attentive staff members who made us feel like were at home. Tom, Jimmy and Ricky (Rickie?) had smiles for us every time we saw them, and there helpfulness and cheerfulness were so welcoming. Nags Head is clean and tidy because Ricky takes her job seriously...and does it with a smile. And we felt like Jimmy wanted to be sure everything went well for us and that he'd help us solve any problem that came up. We really felt that we were surrounded by friends. With such kind staff, we're happy to recommend The Nags Head!"

"Good old fashioned hotel, beautiful staircase and cosy bar, also a large sitting room. My room was on the third floor a lot of stairs to climb. Nice little room with small bathroom. It could have been a bit cleaner dust and hair in the little area outside the bathroom, but I liked the room and not enough to complain about, I would stay again."

"A nice hotel with good facilitiess There was a shortage of staff that meant constant chasing to fix the coffee machine, though this was fixed on the next day I was also not happy to have to download the hotel app so that I could open my room door as we were only allowed 1 phyisical key You could not activate teh app without assistance from the receptionist as he needed to add a registration number - not an advance"
