"External room on second floor. A bit dated but functional and clean. A couple of niggles but nothing major. Trip was a family get together and sadly a bit spoilt by the service from the restaurant kitchen for our family meal. There was a function"

"Met by overwhelming smell of air freshener which was clearly meant to cover up something possibly fresh paint. Made it a bit difficult to sleep normally. Then shower collapsed into itself but too late in evening to get fixed. Could not shower in the morning and receptionist not remotely interested when we informed him. No hint of recompense for not having a basic requirement of any hotel. Unbelievably disappointing experience"

"We enjoyed our stay and a really lovely young group of bar staff!!!"

"The room was lovely and the offer of a free drink in the bar in exchange for no housekeeping is clever. Such a good idea. Unfortunately the wedding in the hotel on Saturday night dominated all the communal areas of the hotel which meant that we couldn’t have the nightcap in the bar we were hoping for, as well as there being the thumping of the music from the wedding in our room until well after 11pm. Had we known yet the bar area would be pretty much out of action to other guests we might have...

"Nice central location. Hôtel is a stately structure and is in places looking a little tired. A great choice of food for breakfast but you may find quite suitable options for less cost in the close neighbourhood. Staff are very helpful and friendly. I would be happy to stay here again."

"The staff so helpful"

"Friendly welcome, offer a larger room as we were early, with superb views over the bay. Really close to beach, town and marina, but very quiet. Breakfast was self served and amazing choice and quality. Would definitely stay again."

"Janet and Martin were the absolute best hosts! From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, they were so attentive, helpful, and a true pleasure to be around. This was really one of the greatest vacation stays of my entire life, and that's due to the dedication of Janet and Martin as well as the cozy, warm atmosphere they've created at their inn. Janet made the most delicious breakfasts and always made sure the guests had what they needed. When I arrived it was late and I wasn't able to find...

"Lovely hotel by the sea We stayed at the Langstone Cliff hotel before a concert at Powderham castle. We arrived early afternoon and decided to have lunch on the terrace overlooking the sea. Lunch was lovely and the drinks were cold. Having parasol’s kept us cool on a very hot day. Our room was lovely, quite small but had everything we needed and the air con was an added bonus. The travel to Powderham was easy and relatively quick with only a short walk to the station and then about a 15 minute...

"The room was clean with everything that you needed. A king size bed would have been better but the room wasn't big enough. Staff were attentive, breakfast very good. Plenty of parking and accessible to the main A38."

"The staff were very attentive and provided an excellent service"

"Very old and dated facilities and the gym equipment is awful. All clean and comfortable and helpful staff but not an enjoyable place to stay. Stops serving food at 7:30"

"Great location with parking. Big clean room and comfy bed. Nice pool, hot tub and mini gym. Helpful staff on the front desk"
