"The apartment is not at San Marco, as listed by the Hotel. I got the address 2 days before arriving, a 12-minute walk from the train station, but it is in a quieter neighbourhood, which was good. There is no reception on site at any time, though their info says there is one in the morning. Once, I had a hard time getting the burner to work. I followed their email instructions and contacted them via WhatsApp. I was asked to send a video of the issue. You need to be app affluent to get help, and do not expect to see any staff in person. The kitchen is equipped with the bare minimum, no microwave, no toaster. The washroom is also bare minimum: no table, no towel hanger. The shower space is pretty constrained; if you weigh 180 lbs or more, you'll have a hard time turning around. The shower water worked fine. Air conditioning worked, one on the main floor, one on the 2nd floor; however, it is not enough to give you a good sleep. There were so many mosquitoes in one of the 2nd-floor bedrooms that we killed at least 10 of them. This apartment is livable, but uncomfortable."

"Hotel Montecarlo was absolutely fantastic! The location is perfect, just a few minutes walk to St Marc’s. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff was fabulous, particularly Dario. If you have the opportunity to visit Venice, book your stay at Hotel Montecarlo."

"Terrible stay.Rooms are very old and not maintained.Room smells fried oil all the time and very strong odor.Mold in the ceiling ,the wood floor is broken and has lot of wide cracks.closet door is broken and missing a panel.Ac was not working and room was very hot .WORSE HOTEL TO STAY IN ."

"So this is rated 4+ stars on Hotels.com and others, but it is barely a 2 star. First, there is NO elevator so you have to haul your luggage at least 2 flights of stairs up to your room. There are no TV’s, no Kleenex, small bathrooms with very low water pressure in the shower. There were dirty socks and toiletries left in our room from the prior guest. The breakfast that is included is not good, lower quality than any other we have had in Europe. The location is ok, but not the cleanest part of Venice. The staff was fine, but I would not stay here again. It’s really a low grade Pensione."

"Loved having a kettle in room. Water was hot and bathtub long. Train into Venice was in backyard of hotel and only like $5 each way. We were able to borrow a correct adapter to charge our phones. Quite a nice selection at breakfast. Enjoyed taste of Italian pasta in the restaurant for dinner and reasonably priced - 2 dinners and a bottle of water for about $40 and a pretty large portion. Also liked having a free water bottle in room. Rooms were fairly large. Everything was so clean. Got in early and they even had a room ready for me."

Hotel Rialto

"Right outside of the Rialto Bridge. Location was excellent. Saw mouse droppings in an open suitcase when we returned to the room one night but overall the room was clean. Staff was great. Breakfast was better than a lot of other places we had stayed. Loved using an actual key instead of a keyboard. Building was a little dated but wasnt an issue."
