Great Budget Option Near Plaza Mayor

Let's start right off by admitting that this isn't the Four Seasons; there's a sex shop literally right outside the front door. If you're considering Chic & Basic Dot, it's because you're looking for a budget-conscious option right by Plaza Mayor. And you've found it! As the name states, this is a basic place. A small room, but quiet and with a comfortable bed, friendly staff, quick wifi, and it's a 2 minute walk to eithe Plaza Mayor or Gran Via. Would I pay more than $175/nt? Probably not. But when I priced this out vs all the other options in the area, it was a no-brainer at $140/nt and I enjoyed my 3 night stay here. Easy access to Alfonso Barajas airport on metro/renfe.

The hotel we booked initially decided to cancel on us the last day before our trip to Europe. We didn’t have time to research and just booked this hotel for two nights. The hotel is clean but the rooms are on the small side. The stuff is very friendly. Consider this hotel to only spend a night while the rest of the day exploring the city. There is no hall or any place to rest while waiting for the room. We were the unfortunate couple who checked out from the hotel right before the block out in Spain. We couldn’t take a train to go to another city and return to the hotel only to find a nervous stuff with no computers available, no rooms, no help. Luckily we have found another hotel down the street that had a generator, computers working, and rooms available. You can code this hotel to stay a night or two. It’s clean and in the heart of the city. But if anything goes wrong, you might end up on the street. They are not accommodating. They simply don’t have any ability.
