"Words truly cannot describe the setup, setting, and experience that we had during our stay last week for our 15th anniversary! What a truly special place to enjoy on the Big Island and totally worth the drive to get away from all the tourists in the Kona area. Dan is DA MAN who was always available in assisting us with needs/questions leading up to our trip, checking in a couple of times during the trip and never impeding on our stay. His attention to details and amenities at the house are top notch. The being Host we have ever experienced on a trip!Mahalo, Dan!"

"The yurts are great! The decor is adorable! The host really has all your needs covered and has every little last minute thing you forgot you'd need. We had 5 adults and there was plenty of room! Great view, very private. THIS PLACE WAS PERFECT Thank you John!!!!"

"We had such a great time. when some of us wanted to go to the beach and some wanted to stay at the house it went safe and they were content. The house was beautiful and comfortable. We cooked together and there was plenty of room for everyone of the 6 of us."

"We have stayed at the colony I at sea mountain in pahala twice. We absolutely love this place, the people are veey nice and make you feel at home. I love the privacy and how quite it is. Its also a 5 minute walk to the beach where you can see the green sea trutles."

"This is our second time to stay here. We loved it, and came back because it was so quiet and comfortable, and such a beautiful place and view. The yurts are well equipped and clean. The elevation makes for comfortable cool, but not cold, nights. The central sky light is spectacular at night with so many stars. It is calm and quiet and beautiful with various flowers. But it is easily accessed from Kona South Point and Volcanoes National Park. If we get back to the big island again, we hope to stay here once more! "

"This is our second time staying here. The yurts are lovely, comfortable and well equipped. The central skylight shows dazzling stars at night. Communication with Lisa is excellent and speedy and helpful. Love love love the view of South point from up where the weather is delightfully cool, but not cold. We hope to go back again if we can! "This house is exactly as described. Room for 8 (if 2 are thin and short or are children). The host is very communicative and helpful. The check in and check out process is very easy. There are games in the basement and the host has a whole shed of snorkels, fins, chairs, beach equipment, etc. Really great if you've come from far and obviously couldn't pack your own.Why this house might not be for you: it is rural. If you want to go to Kona it's 1 to 1 1/2 hours away. Volcanoes NPS is about 2 hours away. If you are looking for restaurants or activities, you will be doing a lot of driving. Except for a few beaches, most of them are a drive too because you're on a mountain...it's a slow, curvy ride everywhere.If you are a nervous driver or get carsick, this is not for you. The road is steeped and very curvy. My family doesn't get sick...until our last day. But it was fun to see the mongooses and wild pigs in the road. If you like long, hot showers, this is not for you. There is little water in this area...you can't drill a well into volcanic rock and there's no public water. So you are taking short showers as the host requests. Also, I don't think I ever had a HOT shower. Even if I insisted on taking a 2-minute shower before my kids, the water would get warm (I always describe it as "llama spit") but never hot. "

"As other reviews mention, it's on the south of the island. It was ideal for us, as Kona and Hilo were both in reach. Great place!"
