"We booked this wonderful house at very short notice. It has everything you could want for a relaxing stay. The location is beautiful with commons for dog walks in your doorstep and fantastic pubs etc. (go to the Weighbridge Inn for a 2 in 1 pie). We would love to return. "My partner and I stayed here as a surprise weekend away for her 30th Birthday. Our friends joined us mid-stay for a few nights also. The location is amazing. It’s within great distance to local amenities and restaurants and perfect for just walking around the picturesque countryside. The lodge itself is not something I’ve stayed in before. It felt like something from a James Bond film, with movie posters on the walls and mid century furniture. It was very cosy indeed and we loved our stay. It was warm and comfy. The only criticism I would give is that in 2026, there should be better WiFi coverage, and a modern TV. The TV is extremely old with a Roku box connected for Netflix etc but quality is poor, so could be modernised. It’s nice to snuggle up to a movie after a long day walking and evening in the hot tub. The bathroom was a little outdated and needed some TLC and the lodge was full of cobwebs on the ceilings/shelves. Despite these minor “personal preferences”, the lodge is very good value and we would like to return in the summer with access to the pool."

"Lovely little cottage great for a short break. We were 2 couples and it suited us just fine had everything we needed. Situated in a narrow street, no problem finding on street parking and we had 2 cars. Stroud is a lovely place with a great farmers market on Saturday which was only a short from the cottage. "

"Just DON’T. We were misled by pics and text - paid £102 for a shoebox room with minimal facilities and staff not overly helpful. We chose as it looked like they had a Greek restaurant plus steaks - turned up to be told they only do pizzas! We went somewhere else to eat. No breakfast as we are told the toaster isn’t working! Total joke of a place. Didn’t even give them any trade arms the bar. Never to return. "

"A lovely cosy stay with old friends. A great dining table to sit around and enjoy a meal or glass of wine or two, although don’t bring too much food as the fridge is quite small. The garden is beautifully kept and the cottage has clearly been refurbished in the last year or two. We had a small problem with the shower which was very promptly resolved by the owner and there was true concern shown that it didn’t impact our stay, which it didn’t. We’d highly recommend a meal at the Woolpack in Slad and a wonder into Stroud for a coffee and to see the market."
