Kind of a low cost gem. It was actually a nice little place for the lower cost. The room was clean and cozy.

I found the Royal Inn to be very outdated and in need of repair and cleaning. The highlight was a very nice bed and linens.

The hotel is very cheaply run. No coffee. Only microwave is in the lobby. The toilet paper is gossamer (useless). Shower temperature varies. Retro architecture.

Address issue with hotels.com.

Only problem the address should be portsmouth ohio. I have mentioned this many times. Royal inn is in ohio not in kentucky.

Considering it was the only available room in the city of Portsmouth, OH, we really had no other choice than "The Four Keys" this was the better choice. However this place was nowhere near "Royal" we were put in a room that reeked of cigarette smoke, it was very dingy, the door looked as if it had been broken into more than once.

very old too soft bed

This place was pretty horrible. The bed was over soft in about 27 years old. The bathroom was so disgusting that I didn’t wanna go in there. The floor was dirty things are falling off the walls and it smelled horrible! The only benefit they had… I don’t remember.

Booked room for 2 adults and I kids plus two dogs. Opened room to have only one bed and no couch. Then was moved to a room that was not only dirty, but had bullet holes in the window. It was. It smelled terrible, smoke plus moldy. It was very late after many hours of driving, so tried to sleep on top of bed with blankets we originally brought for dogs.
