"Great location, staff and value for money"

"The three best things about the Kinzie Hotel are (1) the location (right in the heart of downtown Chicago, across the river from the Loop, an easy walk to lots of restaurants, El stations, bridges across the Chicago River), (2) the friendly, helpful staff, and (3) the great room rate for being in the middle of it all. For those three reasons alone I would consider staying there again. The room itself was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, there was a nice-sized TV. Some of the drawbacks: (1) The complimentary breakfast is about the level of quality you would get at a Best Western: microwaved breakfast sandwiches, mediocre muffins and bagels, mediocre coffee -- but it's free. (They do have a waffle maker, which is actually nice.) (2) Every time you turn the bathroom light on or off, the overhead vent makes a loud whirring noise that lasts about 5-7 seconds. There's a sign explaining what's making the noise, and they provide a weak night light so you don't have to turn the light on, but it's still an annoying feature. (3) I couldn't really control the temperature in my room. It seemed like no matter what I set the temperature to, it was a constant 70 degrees in the room."

"An early April heatwave isn't all that common, I get it... but not turning the AC on because it's too early in the season is pretty rough when you have an inside facing room with zero breeze and no fan in your room when it's 80 overnight."

"Good hotel, Staff truly helpful & courteous. Restaurant stayed busy, but available. Rooms were good for their size. Location worked well for our stay. The hotel has a good & fun vibe. The lobby area is perfect for waiting, playing games or just hanging out. It was noisy but…it’s downtown Chicago! "

"room and hotel is beautiful…the rest is appealing to the eye but upon further inspection is concerning or even unappetizing. the food at the bar/restaurant was unfortunately not up to chicago standards. the drink was even worse and very heavily artificially syrup based old fashioned was disgusting. sink was not installed correctly and anytime ran water it would just pour all over the counter top. no amenities are given besides a small marshmallow."
