Hotel Saint-Laurent Montreal

10/10 Excellent

"Hotel St. Laurent was an excellent choice for our fall family trip for its kitchen facilities and walking distance location to all the sights. We were upgraded on arrival to a corner suite which was unexpected and made our stay vastly more comfortable with the extra space. The kitchen to cook was well equipped with a full fridge. There was an good sized IGA nearby. Staff at front desk were always available to help with restocking essentials. Room was clean, everything worked, with more than enough linen. Although beds were double size, where we normally book queens, they were comfortable (firm). The only issue that we had was that some of the closet doors would not stay closed, to be repeatedly shut....but there was tons of closet space. We used the hotel underground garage which had security measures for getting in/out and only accessible with a card in the elevator. Hotel location was no. 1. We were able to leave our car and walk everywhere to see main attractions downtown. We chose not to use the subway. Finally the only other issue we had was on arrival that could be communicated before arrival: 1. Cannot stop cars in front the hotel because it is a bus lane during certain hours - there was a sign outside hotel. Drive to side streets. 2. Cannot get into hotel lobby because the doors are locked. We did not see a sign what to do but I believe there is a buzzer intercom. We could not see front desk from the door. We were helped by other guests."

"This hotel was amazing. The location was superb, the room was beautiful. We walked around Old Montreal at night and caught in many of the popular locations all with a 10-20 minute's walk. Would recommend for those interested in being in the downtown area. Dog Friendly, but no lawn areas. Secure Parkade with large spots, lower roof thou. Thanks for everything!"

"Let’s start with the good. The hotel has underground parking which is super easy and reasonable if you get the Expedia discount. The room was quite large and the beds comfortable. The kitchenette is great and makes it easy to bring food or order in. The staff is very friendly and check in and out was easy. The hotel is conveniently located near Chinatown for cheap eats and only a couple of blocks from St Laurent metro. It’s also a very quite hotel. I couldn’t hear my neighbors. On the negative side. The room is badly in need of a refresh. The laminate is peeling off, our window handle was snapped off, the bathroom tiles are cracked. The carpets aren’t the cleanest looking. Our bedside lamp only turned off or on by plugging it in. The switch was broken. It’s a shame because the room is quite large. It appears at one point in the history of the hotel it was built for long term stays since the kitchenette has many cabinets and even a dishwasher. My biggest complaint though is why have a kitchen with no utensils, plates, bowls, or glasses. You can ask for them, but they give you wooden utensils and paper products. I felt like I was in a mental hospital and couldn’t be trusted with sharp objects. At least the sheets and towels were clean as was the bathroom. They could do a better job dusting, especially the dressers and desk. Overall for the price it’s not bad. I would stay there again."
