6/10
When booking our holiday, we chose Amery House because it looked modern and clean and had great reviews. It was also decently priced compared to other higher end hotels in Sliema.
I want to say that the hotel is indeed modern and clean, the staff are all lovely, the breakfast was decent, and the location is great, but there are a few let downs.
First off, upon entering our room, it was a lot smaller than shown in the pictures. We picked a Deluxe room so were expecting more space. We saw how nice the room was though and decided to look past that. Later on in the evening, my partner found that his lamp was broken. Again, nothing major so we were fine with it.
The big thing for us, which did dampen our experience, was how thin the walls of this hotel are. There were multiple nights when guests came back to the hotel late in the night (which is absolutely fine) but we could hear every footstep, every chair movement, just everything from the hallways and other rooms. Not only this, but we realised on the second morning that our room was right next to what we think was the housekeeping closet. This meant that on the mornings when we tried to sleep in because we had been kept up by noise in the night, we were woken by scraping and slamming noises coming from housekeeping.
We didn’t want to kick up a fuss because there’s nothing the staff can do about thin walls, but just something to bare in mind when booking this hotel is that you will hear everything.
