"This is a nice hotel, but not what we were expecting. The room was in the vault. It was atmospheric. But dark. The toilet is next to the head of the bed. And no door….. Even with the lights on it’s not bright. Only one key card per room. Which makes it difficult to go out and get stuff as the lights go off…."

"The hotel itself was lovely. Would recommend having a pizza outside it was amazing. Staff are helpful. Rooms clean tidy everything you needed. My only one thing was no Aircon. We did have one fan room was stuffy, requested another which they were not able to give us. Went into town and bought handheld fans which we were able to put on the side tables"

"This hotel has the best location in York bar none. Ask for a room with Tower view and you get to enjoy a close look at the nightly illuminated York castle. The only potential downside if you visit in the summer, is that this property is old and the rooms are not equipped with air conditioning systems (although the hotel provides you with electric fans). If you have a car, call the hotel in advance and pre-pay/reserve a spot in their garage."

"I like the bed, shower, room setup and decoration. All was good except that the water in the sink went down very slowly and the basement room was a bit chilly and humid. Ok for temperature around 15deg but not sure whether the heater will be good enough in colder weather. The location is convenient but can hear noises on the street though."
