"In staying at 9 different hotels for our 2 week vacation this was our favorite hotel. We took the Gondola up to the hotel and then from there it was very easy to go to Grindelwald 'First' and was very accesible to some great hikes in the area, and then once the Gondola stopped at 6:00 p.m. it became very quiet and peaceful at the hotel. We had the restaurant and the mountain to ourselves for the rest of the night. Although we read many comments discouraging driving up to the hotel, we definitely could have driven up as we had good weather and the paved road is very driveable in the summer. "

"Very modern and clean. Beds were comfortable and amenities were awesome. Had trouble finding parking especially since we reached at 12:30 in the night. As most European hotels there was no AC and it was very hot in the room even though we had fans. I don’t think the self check-in was very efficient when it came to getting answers to some imminent questions like parking, AC, possibility of a late checkout."

"The best way to describe this hotel is: straight out of a fairytale! The view from literally anywhere you look are absolutely spectacular. The hotel is 150 years old but they have done an outstanding job at conserving it authentic and classic look but with some modern and classic touches for comfort. "This hotel was absolutely wonderful and made our trip to Engleberg so worth the detour we took to go there. The staff was excellent with the most note worthy service being provided by Freya and Lazio. We stayed in the Epoque room which was one of the loveliest beautifully appointed rooms with rounded windows but modern Scandinavian style furniture and a gorgeous up to date bathroom! And the bed was extremely comfortable. We had an outstanding experience and highly recommend this property. "
