"The location of this house was excellent for our girls’ weekend in Galena. We were able to walk to everything downtown. Unfortunately, it rained the whole time so we did not get to enjoy the outside patio. The beds could use some updating as they were only full size. We brought air mattresses to sleep more comfortably but that worked ok. We would stay here again."

"Staying in a 170 year old historical mansion has its quirks. For us, we enjoy them. It certainly provides more character than genetically antiseptic chain hotel rooms. The Galena Inn had a few of them. Our quiet in the carriage house was lovely and well appointed. Steps across the property were good for us but may prove a burden to those with mobility issues. The main house is stunning. Antiques are era appropriate. The daily breakfast was excellent the 2 days we had breakfast. The staff is knowledgeable and engaging. We didn’t take advantage of the well stocked and well appointed game room but imagined we might if we stayed longer and/or in the main house. The location was perfect. We had immediate access to the ‘high school steps” which literally take you down to Main Street."

The location couldn't be better—everything from local museums and the tourist office to main attractions and fun activities is within easy walking distance. Plus, the host conveniently provides reserved parking spots.The building itself is gorgeous. The boutique-style entrance is a visual treat that seamlessly blends rich history with modern design. Our host, Joan, went above and beyond with delightful personal touches, including fresh macarons from Bread and Vine waiting for us, along with a complimentary voucher for more treats.We stayed in one of the suites, which was as charming as it gets. Every detail was thoughtfully curated, from the stunning wallpaper and chic decor to the softest bedding imaginable. The high-end extras truly elevated the stay—plush Parachute Cloud Cotton robes and luxurious Malin Goetz toiletries. They’ve even included a washer and dryer in the common area for extra convenience.Chic, warm, charming, and romantic, everything about this place was remarkable. It is easily one of the nicest accommodations we’ve stayed in for a long time, and I would return in a heartbeat. Thank you, Joan, for an unforgettable stay!"
