It's a quiet village with a beautiful river & ancient bridge & a castle but not really many shops or restaurants apart from an Indian & a Chinese. There is a really good coffee shop called Q Street. Great pastries & really good cappuccinos.

We were only staying for one night and we had a lovely time. Lostwithiel is a small town with independent shops, cafes and historic buildings. We enjoyed the pottery, art galleries, museum and the Queen Street Cafe. Also had a lovely local walk.
"Character Inn made famous in a book by Daphne DuMaurier. Lots of atmosphere and history of the times.
Splendid room in the newish annex, comfortable bed, great food and a perfect spot to break our journey.

"Absolutely beautiful hotel in the old jail, so many of the original features with a modern feel. Breakfast was incredible, best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had and the continental selection was amazing. "
"It was great stay but only the bed is not so comfortable to sleep, also the window open very little.but everything else was awesome Sam was very helpful and welcoming "
" Camelot Castle Hotel
is a fantastic place to see and even better to stay.
We had a lovely room overlooking the sea, with views extending along the coast and over to the ruins of Camelot Castle.
the staff are excellent, and as we were leaving, we got the chance to meet Ted, the wonderful artist who lives and paints at the Castle.
Thank you, Ted, for showing us around your studio and enlightening me on your art. Fantastic, Thanks again, Dave Hill

"We loved the atmosphere of the Alverton and its grounds. There was plenty of space for parking and the reception was only a short walk.
The rooms we had were very well presented and very clean. I have marked down on the eco credentials as all the lights and television were on when we arrived which wasn't necessary.
The terrace was a great place to sit in the late afternoon for a pre-dinner drink. At times the bar staff were talking to each other rather than looking after customers needs but they were always polite.
We ate dinner the first night of our stay which was delicious and at a reasonable price. Breakfast was very good too. I would recommend this hotel to my friends."
