Great to have a full kitchen available to us to store and prepare food. Wish we had known this ahead of time (as well as close location to grocery store); we would definitely have planned things differently! "We had the most wonderful stay at Convento de Sao Francisco. Staying in the property is an amazing experience. Our room was very comfortable and nicely furnished and the bed had lovely linens. The convent property has so much atmosphere and is furnished with beautiful period pieces as well as comfortable couches. "I don't want to over hype this place because I want it to be available for my next trip. This hotel is a former dept store so you've got very high ceilings and giant windows. The windows have wooden panels that secure over the windows ensuring total silence and darkness when you want to sleep. Good locks, great location, great staff. "Overall, the property was Good: breakfasts, the dinner we had, the rooms were all as expected; the interior decor is good: the dining room had a display cabinet with an old radio set I remember from when I was a kid!! The location is a short walk (downhill) to the City Gates, good for buses, shops and marina with its shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, we were in a street facing room where, on Wednesday night, we were woken up by music and what must have been karaoke at about 0130 (Thursday)....
