"All of the staff are so friendly and welcoming. This is the third time we have stayed at the , " Duke of York". The rooms are always clean and well supplied and wonderfully quirky. The food is exquisite, good suppliers and a talented chef make any meal you order an absolute delight. The choice of beers and ciders definately hit the spot and are excellently kept. "Staff friendly and polite. A good selection for the breakfast menu. Room was clean, bathroom needed some tlc. pet-friendly."

"We have stayed at the Fortescue a few times, but we were a little disappointed this time. Our room was at the back of the hotel and on the first floor, with no lift. My wife is on crutches so getting to the room was a struggle. Also, the room was very small. The bed was comfy and the shower was good. We release that there is always a little more noise at weekends, but we could clearly hear the beats of a nearby club until the early hours of the morning. Tip - If staying at the weekend, ask for a room at the front section of the hotel. We love the hotels position for the shops etc and the staff are fantastic. "

"We had previously eaten at this hotel and were so impressed that we decided pay another visit and stay the night. We were not disappointed. The room was excellent. Every member of staff we met were warm and friendly and the cooked breakfast was superb. Appledore is such a lovely destination and a stay at the Royal George makes it all the more special.
